Main role: Research in tropical and subtropical fruit crops, including phytopathology, physiology, management of crops, technology, ecology of pests, postharvest, and others. The institute is specialized in citrus diseases such as huanglongbing (HLB) and coconut as well as Lethal yellows (LY) and its insect vectors, development of epidemiological studies of HBL disease and strategies for its control.

Description: The IIFT of the Agricultural Business Group (GAG), belonging to the Ministry of Agriculture of Cuba (MINAG), develops scientific research and technological innovation and the provision of scientific and technological services for the fruit and vegetable industry. The research lines are Phytopathology, Ecology and Pest Management, Postharvest and Industrialization, Genetic Improvement and Plantation Management.
