Main role: Conduct research of the lethal yellowing disease pathogen and its  association with insect vectors to improve the livelihood of rural coconut growing communities in Jamaica.

Description: The Coconut Industry Board (CIB) is a statutory body established by the Coconut Industry Control Act of 1945. The CIB promotes the interest and efficiency of the industry, encourages the production of coconuts, conducts research in coconut and regulates the manufacture of coconut products, the purchase, sale and export of coconuts as well as the importation of coconut products and substitutes. The CIB reports to the Minister of Industry, Commerce, Agriculture and Fisheries.
