  • Kick off meeting sets guidelines for the project

The Tropicsafe partners met last May in Bologna to launch the project, being this occasion the first consortium meeting. The event took place in Alma Mater Studiorum and was attended by participants from twelve countries around the world. University of Bologna, which is the coordinator was responsible for hosting the meeting.
During the two days that the event lasted, May 17th to 18th, main guidelines for the project were set. Tropicsafe partners presented their company or institution, as well as the main tasks that will be developed during the four-year period the project lasts.

This kick off meeting represents the beginning of Tropicsafe implementation. The main objective of the project is to address three severe insect-borne prokaryote-associated diseases that are affecting perennial crops in tropical and subtropical regions, thus resulting in production and trade losses worldwide.

A training session also took place in Conegliano Veneto hosted by CREA partner, where issues related to pest management strategies and technologies to be used during research were specifically addressed.
